Así llama The New York Times al conspicuo presidente del BBVA, D. Francisco González. Así, según el periódico neoyorkino:
Francisco Gonzalo, BBVA´s chairman, said last September that the bank received approaches from European and non-European rivals. BBVA´s shares have gained following speculation that it could be of interest to London-based HSBC Holdings P.L.C. or France´s Societé Generale S.A.
Mr. Gonzalo took a blow to his expansion plans last year when he was outbid by France´s BNP Paribas S.A. in an attempt to buy Italian lender BNL. The acquisition would have been BBVA´s biggest since it paid 10.5 billion euros for Argentaria in 2000.
En fin, digno de Malaprensa .
